Project Profile - 6th Street
Location: Hermosa Beach
Project Timeframe: 5 months
Designer: Maycliff Homes
Biggest Challenge: The ceilings on the middle level felt very low; in the Hall and Master Bath the ceilings
were only 7’ high. We reconfigured framing and rerouted ductwork to improve the ceiling height to 8’.
Best Architectural Feature: The expanse of large, west facing windows draw in natural light and warmth
with a peek-a-boo ocean view.
Owner Comment: “The existing 2 bedroom house had not been updated since it was built in 1980, and
the low ceilings were a turn-off. We needed 3 bedrooms, so Maycliff Homes reconfigured the layout to
include a 3 rd bedroom and bigger kids bathroom, all without adding square footage. We removed a
dividing wall on the upper level that gave us the option to open up the kitchen and have a large island as
we’d envisioned. We took advantage of John’s discount to make high-end finish selections where it
made the most impact”.
Guests Say: “There’s an amazing amount of natural light coming through every room. The space feels airy and modern, yet casual”.
